Outdoor Gym has come to Schull

schull exercise equipment Schull is following the trend of many Asian and European countries in bringing groups of older people together to enjoy outdoor exercise in a new and different way. These outdoor gyms are also known as “Tone Zones” and are proving very popular all over Ireland.

Prior to the setting of Schull & District Community Council and through the inexhaustible energy of Schull Tidy Towns, they applied a number of years ago to Cork County Council to provide an outdoor gym to enhance the amenity areas in Schull.

Thankfully the hard work, phone calls, emails etc paid off and Schull has recently been allocated over €13,000 in a Sports Capital Grant from Cork County Council to provide a state of the art outdoor Gym in Schull. The gym will be free to use by all and will encourage everyone to keep fit.

We wish to convey a big thank you to Cllr. Dermot Sheehan in his assistance on what will be a huge asset to everyone in our community.

In partnership with Schull Tidy Towns Committee & Schull & District Community Council we are delighted to announce the Schull Outdoor Gym Sub-Committee who are as follows: Maura Allen, Helen Barnett, Carmel O’Regan & Mary Ryan.
